The World's Columbian Exposition, also known as the Chicago World’s Fair, was organized in celebration of the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s landing in America. Public Act 188 of 1891 created a commission known as The World's Fair Managers. It consisted of 6 members, 2 of whom were to be women, and the governor as an exofficio member. The purpose of the Managers was to prepare an exhibit of various manufactures and products of Michigan at the World Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893.
